It must be an unusual sight for you, Yuu, since you aren’t from this world.

It’s really so much warmer compared to the weather back at school~ I can already feel the sweat soaking my skin.
Jamil
On top of the high air temperature, the sunlight itself is also intense, so please be careful in this weather.
Cater
Truly. The stone pavements also warm up from the sun so you can feel yourself burning up from the heat reflected by them.
Gonna have to make sure to apply lots of sunscreen thoroughly.
Trey
I’d wanted to wear a hat here, but this throws a wrench in that plan…
Jamil
The Scalding Sands actually has a tropical climate and a vast desert on top of that.
The country is a peninsula, with the majority of its area facing the ocean.
You can find row after row of high-class housing, resorts and hotels built along the coasts.
This city lies in the central region of the Scalding Sands, and it is undeniably popular with both locals and foreigners as a tourist destination.
Malleus
That seems to hold true. I see many around us are holding maps.

Those must be guidebooks for tourists. Everyone looks so refreshed in their short sleeved shirts and berms~
Trey
Yeah. We’re the only ones who are wearing thick and stuffy uniforms.
Cater
Hey, hey, what’s this city called?
Jamil
This place is known as Silk City.
Kalim
It’s the city we were born in.
Cater
Ohh, so this is Silk City. It’s featured in the guidebook too.
It really lives up to its rep of having beautiful buildings made of white stone. Time for a quick snap ♪

It was said to be difficult to acquire suitable timber for architecture in the past. That’s why our buildings are made of the stone that could be mined by our ancestors.
While various materials can be used now, stone buildings have a cooling effect indoors. Thus, they continue to be built to this day.
Trey
That’s true. Most would associate the Scalding Sands with these sort of stone buildings.
Cater
It really looks just like a set for a movie. It’s so stylish~ ♪
Kalim
Apart from the architecture, we also take great pride in our fine food and highly recommend it for sure!
The coastal areas deliver fresh marine products daily through the canals.
Silk City’s seafood is incredibly popular even among gourmands, plus there are lots of highly-rated1 restaurants here!
Grim
Heeeey! There’s a river flowing here. It’s so cooling, and feels great~
Malleus
This must be the canal which you spoke of earlier, I believe.
Grim
Ah! I see something splashing over there! Are there fishes?
Trey
Oi, don’t stay too close to the canal, Grim. It’s dangerous.

Myahaha! You underestimate me, Trey! There’s no way I’d be that foolish!

Ahhh! Gri-gri fell into the river!
Trey
Right after I told him to stay away too!
Grim
Fnagh!? A-A ship’s heading here! A-AM I GONNA GET RUN OVER!?

…It’s dangerous here, so you gotta pay attention to your pet so that it doesn’t leap into the canal!
Jamil
W-We’re truly sorry…
Grim
Hey, I’m no one’s pet, okay!
Malleus
Oh ho? You still have enough cheek left in you to quip back even though you were flailing with such vigour just earlier?
Jamil
Canals work the same as any other road for cars and magical wheels.
They’re necessary for trade in Silk City, so the coming and going of ships in these is endless.
Swimming is obviously outlawed as well since these are dangerous places to be in.
Trey
Good thing you were rescued by the ship’s helmsman, right, Grim?
Grim
Not at all! After I fell in with a splash, I was swept away in an instant. I was so scared!
My feet couldn’t reach the bottom, and the ship was rapidly approaching! I thought I was done for!!
Trey
Well, this is a lesson on staying alert while you’re travelling. Learn from this experience and stay cautious from here on, Grim.
Jamil
Okay, stay still. I’ll be drying you off. It’d be a disaster if you caught a cold now.
Grim
