That's because these are scraps of cloth that the villagers have finished using.

But it's not like we're trying to be cheap or anything, y'know!
We believe in cherishing what we have, so we reuse stuff by giving them a new purpose after they get worn down.
You'll be sewing the pieces together to make a patchwork, so pick out several pieces of fabric, okay?
